Maybe you're the driver who loves powerful engine performance. The Outback model comes with a 2.4-liter turbocharged BOXER® engine that delivers 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. More interested in the Forester? Its Wilderness Edition comes with a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated BOXER® engine that outputs 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque. If you want a bit more power, the Outback Wilderness makes it easy with the turbocharged powertrain.

Outback Wilderness vs. Forester Wilderness: Towing Capability

Attaching a trailer gets easier with the Outback Wilderness Edition, which utilizes a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, up from 2,700 pounds on the Outback base model. For a more significant jump, the Forester Wilderness can tow up to 3,000 pounds - that's twice what its base model can tow! The Forester Wilderness also equips trailer stability assist for better control of your trailer on the road.

Outback Wilderness vs. Forester Wilderness: Design

With their improved ground clearance, the Outback Wilderness and Forester Wilderness models enjoy more confidence when undertaking bumpy roads or obstacles in the way. The Outback has a ground clearance of 9.5 inches, while the Forester model offers 9.2-inches of ground clearance. The Outback model does offer better ground clearance, but the Forester vehicle is taller and has a shorter wheelbase, allowing for more room inside the cabin. Both models also feature the Advanced Dual-Function X-MODE® technology, which powers through deep snow, mud, and sand with better traction control and handling.

You aren't just getting an off-road performer with the Outback and Forester SUVs. Inside, you'll find that both models are spacious and cozy. They also allow you to handle the elements easily, even if a little water gets inside the cabin. This is thanks to the StarTex® water-repellant upholstery in the Outback Wilderness, also offered in the Forester Wilderness. The Forester SUV accentuates its interior with copper accent stitching for a unique look. In the Forester Wilderness Edition, you'll get the STARLINK® Multimedia 8.0-inch Multimedia Plus, also with compatibility for Apple and Android devices.
